Taking programs to the people.

Everyone should have access to mental heath programs. Hanna Foundation is a registered charity with the goal of making Australiaā€™s leading mental health programs accessible to those most vulnerable.

Mental health used to be something people didn't talk about much, and whilst progress has been made in encouraging those suffering from mental health challenges to feel safe discussing their problems, the data sadly reveals that the incidence of suicide continues at an alarming rate.

The role of mental health charities in Australia.

Mental health charities in Australia play a vital role in addressing various aspects of mental health challenges faced by individuals and communities.

Support Services: Mental health charities offer a range of support services tailored to different needs, including counselling, helplines, and peer support groups. These services provide invaluable assistance to individuals experiencing mental health issues, offering a safe space to seek help and guidance.

Advocacy and Awareness: Advocacy for improved mental health policies and services at local, state, and national levels. They raise awareness about mental health issues, challenge stigma and discrimination, and promote understanding and acceptance within communities.

Education and Training: The provision of education and training programs aimed at increasing mental health literacy and building capacity within the community to recognise and respond to mental health issues. This may include workshops for schools, workplaces, and community groups.

Research and Innovation: Funding of research into mental health conditions, treatment options, and prevention strategies. By supporting innovative research projects, these charities contribute to advancements in mental health care and evidence-based practices.

Community Engagement: Engagement with communities to foster social connectedness, resilience, and support networks via events, campaigns, and initiatives to promote positive mental health and reduce isolation among individuals experiencing mental health challenges.

Crisis Intervention: Crisis intervention services, such as suicide prevention hotlines and crisis support centres. These services offer immediate assistance to individuals in distress, providing a lifeline during times of crisis.

Specialised Support for Vulnerable Groups: Mental health charities often focus on providing specialised support for vulnerable groups, such as youth, Indigenous communities, refugees, and LGBTQ+ individuals. They recognise the unique mental health needs of these populations and tailor their services accordingly.

Overall, mental health charities play a multifaceted role in promoting mental well-being, providing support to those in need, and advocating for positive change in Australia's mental health landscape.

Where Hanna Foundation fits into the mental health charity landscape.

Hanna Foundation recognises that there are many communities in Australia who are vulnerable and lack the resources to tap into educational and training programs, so our work is centred around Community Engagement and the delivery of Education and Training.

Money raised by the Foundation funds the delivery of mental health programs into communities that encourage conversation, recognition and positive action both for sufferers of mental health conditions, and those around them.
